A full NHS dispensing service is available from our pharmacy. This includes NHS, private, dental and veterinary prescriptions.We offer free weekly community dossette service for eligible paitents. All our staff are trained to standards required by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain, and operate under robust procedures.

Healthcare Advice
We are available to answer any queries you have concerning your medication and can tell you which counter medicines are safe to take with your medication.
Pharmacists are also trained in recognising symptoms of disease and where appropriate, recommending either treatment or referral to your doctor. Our pharmacy staff are also trained to give you advice on counter medicines.
At Wombourne Pharmacy, we offer a service by which you can ask a pharmacist questions about your medication or condition which will be answered in total confidence.

Repeat prescription collection & delivery service – MEDS Express Patients on repeat medication can benefit from our MEDS Express service. Our pharmacy will collect and prepare your prescription from your local surgery on your behalf, ready for you to collect at the most convenient time. We also offer a free delivery service.

Electronic transmission of prescriptions ETP
It is anticipated that during 2009, your GP will be able to transmit your repeat prescriptions electronically to your local pharmacy. This will mean that you no longer have to visit your GP to request your repeat prescription, your prescription will be transmitted directly to the pharmacy and dispensed ready for you to collect. At Wombourne Pharmacy we will be updating our systems to ensure that we will be able to offer you this service as it becomes available.

Medicines Use Review
This free service involves a face to face discussion between the customer and pharmacist to give a better understanding of why medicines have been prescribed, and the best way to take them. Advice can be given on side effects or other problems relating to medicines.
Note that this review differs from that done via the GP. The GP will assess and change medicines, and the pharmacist will discuss the best ways to take them.

Doctors & Nurses
We operate Surgery accounts and can deliver your requests. Our pharmacists are available and approachable for any prescribing advice.
We can help with co-ordinating dosette boxes and other compliance aids by liasing closely with nurses and doctors. Dressings can be delivered to the patient’s address or back to the surgery.

Toiletries and general goods
We stock a wide range of competitively priced cosmetics, toiletries and general goods. If there is any item you cannot find, our staff may be able to order it for you.

Disposal of Medicines
We can accept your unwanted medicines for disposal. Please take them to Wombourne Pharmacy where our staff will ensure they are disposed of safely.

Services for Care Homes – OUR SPECIALITY
A full range of free services are available for Nursing and Residential Care Homes. These include dispensing, delivery services, advice visits and staff training. Our pharmacists specialise in this service and we can speak to you or visit on request to discuss your requirements directly. Our services can be tailored to meet the individual needs of all the home to ensure you receive the service you require.

Pregnancy Testing
We offer discreet, fast and very economical pregnancy testing services in our pharmacy. For best results an early morning sample of urine should be brought to the pharmacy in a specimen container. The test usually takes 10 minutes so you can either wait or call back for the results. You will be given a report with your results filled in by the pharmacist that you can take to your doctor. The tests we perform in the pharmacy are highly accurate and we also have a private consultation room were you can discuss your results in private with a qualified member of staff.

To meet the needs of the local community and in conjunction with local Primary Care Organisations a range of services are available locally:

Substance Misuse / Harm Reduction Services
Services included are supervised methadone consumption, instalment dispensing and needle exchange schemes. As partners in shared care schemes with Primary Care Organisations and Drug and Alcohol Teams (DAT) nationally, we provide services to clients in premises that have been purpose-built and provide discreet and private areas.

Ostomy Supplies
We offer a full ostomy supply service. Because of the individuality and diverse nature of ostomy and catheter products we order the stock specifically for you and thus these prescriptions require 24 hours to be dispensed. This gives the pharmacy time to order the exact products you require with all the ostomy products being supplied discreetly with free disposal bags where appropriate.

Surgical Appliances
Wombourne Pharmacy offers a full range of surgical appliance supplies. We can supply any dressing supplied on your prescription within 24 hours, with some more commonly prescribed dressings being available immediately. We also offer a hosiery measuring service to ensure that you receive the correct size of surgical stockings. This will always be done in a discreet manner in private.
